Our journey around New England in September 1999 took us to some beautiful places, although the weather was very good, I would of still liked to see New England in the fall, as I have heard so much about the beauty of this area of The United States of America, at this time of year. Don't get me wrong it was beautiful when we toured around there but like many tourists you conjour this image up about certain places you would like to visit, so the next time I visit New England I may try to get there in the fall.

Some of the places we visited on route where Plymouth Rock, Mass. East Falmouth, Mass. Sturbridge, Mass. Sandwich, Mass. Martha's Vineyard, Mass. Kennebunkport, Maine. Ogunquit, Maine. Essex, Conn. Mystic Seaport, Conn.

New Hampshire, New England.
Portland Head Lighthouse, Maine, New England.

Covered Bridge, New Hampshire, New England.

New England is most famous for her seasons. From the flaming colors of autumn to the snow-covered hills of winter, from the gentle greens of spring to the hot sands of summer, New England's character changes every few months. For a few glorious weeks every October, this small corner of the country becomes the most stunning place in the world. Small is beautiful.

Views From Around New England. The six states of New England form the smallest, most compact, and accessible region in the United States. It's easy to see all six states on one vacation, but you can also spend a week in just one place, or you can take one of the many tours New England has to offer. One state, Rhode Island, can fit in your coat pocket; the others: Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine -- can fit inside Oklahoma. One of the greatest challenges of traveling in New England is choosing from an abundance of superb restaurants, accommodations, and attractions. Where to start? They're all worth a major detour. And here is just a couple that I have visited and would love to go back to at any time of the year.

Massachusetts.

If you need a dose of history and you're short of time, visit Massachusetts as it is the home of the first permanent European settlement north of Virginia, where over three centuries of history are etched into every cobblestone and brick.
Massachusetts has also been home to a higher than average number of thinkers and creators and today boasts a cultural life which is the living legacy of that tradition.

From the colleges, universities and fine art and science museums of Boston, Views From Around Massachusetts, New England.Cambridge and the Berkshires to the musical strains of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Massachusetts has much to satisfy culture buffs. The city of Boston is the beating heart of Massachusetts, but drive an hour out of Boston in almost any direction and you can come in contact with it's history. An hour south of Boston is Plymouth and the Plimoth Plantation, a recreation of the first Puritan settlement. If the seashore is your pleasure, you cant find a more celebrated beach resort than Cape Cod, with its miles of beaches and bike trails, Just of the coast lie the equally lovely islands of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket.
