I first got interested in photography back when I was a kid, with my mother buying me a coronet camera and I thought I was the bee's knee's. I used to run messages as a kid for the mother of a photographer and as nieghbours he used to let me go into dark room with him and watch how he developed black and white photo's, and I think that is when I got hooked. As I got older I always liked taking photo's on holiday and I decided that I would try further education and enroll at Newcastle College of Arts and Design this I did in 1995 and enrolled in a access course under the guidance of my mentor Tutor and good friend in Terry Harvey if he did not know it was not worth knowing. |

Terry asked me if I would like to take the City and Guilds Qualifications Course, this I did and threw myself 110% into the projects that where set out for me, our first year was in Black and White and the second year was in Color Photography. And I was pleased at the end of two years what I had achieved, out of 6 modules I undertook I got One Merit and Five Distinctions. |

This not only pleased me but it also pleased Terry. After
this course I enrolled on an HNC in Photography under the guidance of Jacqueline
Longstaff and John Quinn. As well as getting help and encouragement from
the Tutors the lads in the store ( The Technicians ) where also an enormous help. I loved taking portraiture and experimenting with lighting to enhance my images, as I have taken a selection of some of my work for this page to show of what I produced, all of the photo's on this page I processed excepting the wedding photo's. |

| I was allowed to go out and watch my College Tutor Terry Harvey to observe, as he was also a very good Wedding Photographer. Terry was somewhat like me when he was taking wedding's he was running around organizing everything as he told me this was to instill into the Wedding party the sense of urgency that was needed to get the job done. Terry is also the Secretary of The British Institute of Professional Photography of the local North Region. |

| I became a member of The Guild Of Wedding Photographers, and I must say that I took out the full membership and received tutorials every month on different aspects of being a good professional photographer. This comes in the form of The Manual Of Professional Wedding Photography, they also host seminars and training days around the country. |

I also had the honor to go out with to observe Andrea Barrett from Bramley in Leeds WOW what a photographer she makes things look so easy and has won about every award going I was in awe of her and her work she had such away with the Wedding parties and could produce some fabulous images. there was no airs or graces about Andrea she was such a down to earth person and photographer that is how I think she got the best out of her clients. Andrea was great with me answering any questions I put to her and when she set a particular shot up she would always ask me to view it through her camera before she took it, when we arrived at the weddings she always introduced me to the Bride and Groom and that made me feel so easy. Andrea also invited me down again to view the finished albums that we had taken. Her partner Richard ( Dick ) was also a very good photographer in his own right I was always's made most welcome by Andrea, Dick and her Family when I went down to observe, I do owe Andrea alot as I picked up alot of experience from her on my visits. |  |

One of my best friends Steven Waters ( SPLASH ) whom I had the pleasure of working with and knowing for eleven years died tragically on 10/01/99. He was a great friend for those years that I knew him, I have got a collection of photographs that I took of him, here is 6 of them that I dedicate to his memory. Splash was also an excellent Body Builder and had a fantastic body which he worked out every day at the Gym,Splash also loved Boxing. |

| I loved portraiture work and through good advice from Terry Harvey I bought myself a Bronica SQA Medium Format Camera and I must say the photo results I got from this was excellent. You can go on an never ending spending spree on equipment that you may need to do even Wedding work, that is before you even consider doing any studio work. I always tried to have two of everything as if you had a breakdown while doing a job you needed to get on with it as an excuse of oh my camera is broke would not go down well with a Wedding party, so you had to cover yourself for most scenario's. |
